5th Grade Events

At Island Park we celebrate the achievements of our 5th graders as they enjoy their final year of elementary school and prepare to enter middle school!

We need 5th grade parents to help make all of these programs a success. Please contact Laura Oberto, Amanda Colburn or Ji Young Germack if you are willing to help out!

5th Grade Sweatshirts

Hello 5th grade families!

We are moving quickly through the school year and are getting organized to order up the 5th grade sweatshirts soon along with planning for the 5th grade end of the year party.

Every year, 5th graders look forward to receiving and sporting their grey sweatshirt with their name and graduation year on it as part of their island pride. Once received the 5th graders eagerly go around on signing day with sharpies in hand and sign each other's sweatshirts. This is a tender piece of their 5th grade experience that helps them feel unified (especially in the class photo) in their transition to middle school. Don't miss out on this long standing MI tradition!

THIS IS YOUR ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO ORDER THESE SWEATSHIRTS! We batch order the sweatshirts and plan to have only one order per year so it is important to order today. There will not be a second order process.

When ordering, do not hesitate to order a size or two larger than your child's current size. They grow A LOT in the next few yeas!

This year, we are also proving the opportunity to order an additional sweatshirt ($30) as many kids want to have second sweatshirt for after their last growth spurt!

The details:
  • Size Chart: (Chest Measurement) Adult Small (34/36), Adult Medium (38/40), Adult Large (42/44), Adult XL (46/48).
  • All 5th graders (first and last names as listed in the MISD records) from Northwood, West Mercer, Island Park and Lakeridge Elementary will be printed in small font inside the "MI" graphic on the front of the sweatshirt (see image above). St. Monica and Hamblin Robinson 5th graders from the island are also included on the sweatshirt if they choose.
  • Last names will be printed in large font on back of sweatshirt.
  • If you have change requests (i.e. My 5th grader's legal name is Katherine but she goes by Kate; I have twins and would like a way to differentiate their sweatshirts with their first initial on the back of the sweatshirt also) please reach out to Laura Oberto, Amanda Colburn or Ji Young Germack.
